18 Nov Step Back & Reflect
It’s November and the holidays are fast approaching. It’s a great time to take a step back and reflect on what we are grateful for.
This year has us looking a little more optimistic than last, and maybe you’re thankful for medical advancements that are playing a part in that optimism. Maybe you weren’t able to see as many of your friends or family last year, but this year things are looking a little more normal. Maybe someone made a special impact in your life.
For many, 2021 has been challenging – a year marked by the coronavirus pandemic, economic hardship, fires and weather disasters, political division and yet, amid it all, there are beacons of light, hope and help.
In this season of gratitude, I am grateful EVERYDAY for:
…. the constants in my life
…. friends, family and the technology that allowed us to keep connected
…. a time that people are coming together again, being able to visit some of my closest friends
…. co-workers, teachers, small business owners and other essential workers
…. being able to give back to our community through non-profit partnerships
….and I am MOST grateful for our clients! Thank you for choosing us to be a part of your business and allowing us to make that experience the best one possible.
Robert A. Emmons, a University of California, Davis, psychology professor known as the “father of gratitude,” said this of gratitude:
“Gratitude is an affirmation of the goodness in one’s life and the recognition that the sources of this goodness lie at least partially outside the self. It emerges from two stages of information processing: affirming and recognizing. Gratitude is the recognition that life owes me nothing and all the good I have is a gift. It is a response to all that has been given. So it is foundationally and fundamentally a way of looking at life.”
Yes, we’re all excited about the upcoming holidays. But this is also typically the time of year where it’s common to reflect on what we have to be thankful for. And while Thanksgiving is a nice reminder to take time and count our blessings, it’s important to create a habit of being thankful throughout the year. I encourage you to ask yourself – what are you grateful for?
Wishing you a beautiful holiday season filled with the warmth of friends and family.
